What would I do to help my child with their reading comprehension?

Have you ever wondered why some children find reading comprehension hard?

As a tutor, I have seen so many children move from being a reluctant reader to a fluent reader.

If a child doesn’t know anything about something someone is trying to teach us it’s less likely for it to stick.
So
Today I’m going to share some tips with you on how to get your child to comprehend what they are reading.

Before you read any books with your child, pick out some keywords they might not know the meaning of. And talk about
any scenario they might not be sure of.

Let’s say the book is about Paris.

So before you read the book to them,
talk to your child about Paris,
Where Paris is,
what food they eat in Paris
and what language they speak in Paris.

And give them some background knowledge before reading the book with them.

If you do this consistently your little one will soon be able to comprehend what they are reading.
