READ THIS BEFORE YOU PICK A SECONDARY SCHOOL PLACES FOR YOU CHILD 👇
Year 6 parents listen up! I’m sure by now you would have received an email or a letter from your local Council asking you to apply for a secondary school place for your child.
Please don’t do it yet, especially if your child has just sat the 11 Plus exam!
Wait for their results to come out first before you apply for a secondary school place
I can’t stress it enough! Don’t rush into applying just yet until you are sure, especially if your child just finished sitting for the 11-plus exams!
The results for 11 plus exams will come out in the second week of October which leaves you at least a week or two before the deadline!
‼️‼️The deadline for on-time applications is midnight on Tuesday 31 October 2025. ‼️ (So you still have Time)
So Wait!
PLEASE Wait till the results come out before you pick a secondary school. (I know what I’m talking about, please wait until you receive the results)
WHAT TO DO WHEN THE RESULTS HAVE COME OUT
If your child passes the 11 plus exams then you can then go to the council’s online platform and then choose 4 different grammar schools that you want your child to go to.
Hopefully, you have done your research and you know the scores your child needs to have for that particular grammar school to accept your child.
Also, when you are filling the form please remember to put the schools in the order of preference!
So on the form you must only put grammar schools on the list if they pass the exams. Please don’t put any other secondary school on the list.
Because if you do, you have given the local authority the power to send them to a different school.
SO WHAT IF MY CHILD DID NOT PASS THE EXAM:
First of all, let me start by saying that it’s not the end of the world if your child did not pass the 11 Plus exam.
You should have done your research by now for an alternative school and if you haven’t please start doing it today! There are still some good Comprehensive secondary schools around, all you need to do is do some research and apply for them.
In my experience, most kids that went through the 11-plus process always start secondary school at the top set because of the skills they have acquired during the process.
I also want you to know that your child will do well in any school they go to with your support at home.
REMEMBER THIS 👇
IF YOUR CHILD PASS THE 11 PLUS EXAMS PLEASE DO NOT PUT ANY COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL ON THE LIST ( this is very important!!!!)
I hope this helps!
Wishing all our year 6 students the best of luck in the future. Well done for all your hard work.
Ms Olu
