BACK TO SCHOOL đźŹ«

6 THINGS that will transform your child’s education in the new school year.

As a parent, you are your children’s first and most important teacher.

When parents are involved in their children’s schools, the children do better and are in school.

There are many ways that parents can support their children’s learning at home and throughout the school year.

Here are 6 ways to help your child have better grades in the new school year.

  1. Meet your child’s teacher. As soon as the school year starts, try to find a way to meet your child’s teacher. Let the teacher know you want to help your child learn. If your child is not keeping up, especially when it comes to reading, ask what you or the school can do to help. It’s important to act early before your child gets too far behind.
  2. Encourage your child to read. Helping your child become a reader is the single most important thing that you can do to help the child to succeed in school-and in life. Reading helps children in all school subjects.
  3. HELP YOUR CHILD WITH HOMEWORK – Make sure that you support your child learning at home. You can help your child with homework by setting aside a special place to study, establishing a regular time for homework, and removing distractions such as the television during homework time.
  4. Find help for your child if needed. If it is difficult for you to help your child with homework or schoolwork, see if you can find someone else who can help. Enroll them with private tutors.
  5. Ask questions. If something concerns you about your child’s learning or behavior, ask the teacher or the head teacher about it and seek their advice. Your questions may be like these — What specific problem is my child having with reading? What can I do to help my child with this problem? How can I get my child to do homework? Which reading group is my child in?
  6. Monitor your child’s television, video game, and Internet use.

My final thought, please remember that as a parent you can request a meeting with your child’s teacher, the head teachers, school counselors, or other school staff at any time during the school year.

Always make time to talk with your child every day, so they know that what goes on at school is important to you. When kids know their parents are interested in their academic lives, they’ll take school seriously too.

Happy parenting and wishing all the students the best of luck in school
