WHAT I WISH I KNEW WHEN I WAS IN MY 20s

I love journaling and it’s been a habit of mine since I was a teenager

I’m not so good at keeping stuff. I lose my possessions all the time. From keys to wallets to phones

Yes, I’ve asked the whole house “has anyone seen my glasses?” and then it had been on my head, numerous times.  😃

So yesterday I found myself looking everywhere for something I have misplaced.

However, during my search, I came across one of my old diaries and I opened it and I started to read it.

What was funny was, I wrote down a few things that I thought were impossible to come out from then, and it seems the world will come to an end that time.

But everything was actually fine in the end.

Looking back now, I realised I was only worried for nothing.

And I have also come to realise that things always have a way of solving itself out given the time. Thank God for that! 🙏🏾

So why I’m I sharing this

Well, here is why

————————————————

A letter to my 20 something year old

Dear young people,

Relax, everything is going to be fine. You’re valuable, don’t settle for less.

Don’t ever change yourself for anyone, you’re enough!

Don’t sell yourself cheap to anyone. Love doesn’t hurt, if you’re in a relationship and you can’t be yourself and talk to your partner freely, please just save yourself the wahala and end it, because he/she won’t change. I’m sure you know you can’t change anyone. (This message is only for young people that is dating o, not married couples)

You’re worth more. It’s better to be single and happy than to be in a bad relationship and unhappy.

Learn new skills and make yourself so valuable that people want to be like you! But don’t be arrogant, be humble.

Stop making excuses – just do it anyway. We learn from our mistakes.

Be a people person and always treat people with respect and kindness 😊

Do good always and surround yourself with positive people. Always do the right thing. Remember that you get what you sow eventually whether you believe it or not that’s the truth – so be kind to others.

One Step At A Time – While it is important and powerful to know what your goal is, keeping our minds only on the end goal can overwhelm us. If I wanted to become a teacher, it would probably seem like an impossible goal if I thought about the work I would need to do to get there. But if I just focus on getting a PGCE, then find a job in school or volunteer in a school setting, the next level, it will be less daunting.

Don’t pursue money, focus on working hard and given value to others and money will follow. Be open to learn new skills and learn to monetize your skills.

Be kind to everyone, Love people.

Try not to end any relationship with bitterness 😊

Look after yourself more and take time out to spend some time with yourself. Remember you can’t pour from an empty cup 😊

Stop comparing yourself to others, just be yourself.

I have more to say to my younger self, but I will save it till another time. 🙏🏾

For every young person, especially young women reading this, you’re going to be fine. 😊🥰 🩵

You may not see that now, but trust this 50 something year old lady, everything usually works itself out with time.

Take it easy, all will be well in the end 🥰❤️🙏🏾

If you forget everything that I have said today, please remember this👇👇👇

DON’T LOSE YOURSELF BY TRYING TO FIT IN! YOU ARE ENOUGH JUST AS YOU ARE.

Thanks and have an amazing week guys 🥰❤️❤️❤️
